Chinoiserie Wallpaper Video: History of the evolution of the Chinoserie wallpaper using stylized forms of Chinese paintings

Chinoiserie Wallpaper Video: The video shows the interesting history of the evolution of the Chinoserie wallpaper. The wall paper, which was first used by the French, was originally adapted from the long hanging scroll of the Chinese paintings as seen by early far eastern travelers to the imperial China during the rule of the Ming Dynasty in the early 17th century. The creative designers thought was that if the long scroll Chinese paintings were combined together continuously without any gap, you would get the wallpaper with the fantastic stylized forms of birds, leaves, trees, mountains and other motifs. At that time, there was no wallpaper in China. The stylized forms of many Chinese nature paintings were very attractive to the French and Westerners. These are in contrast to the real life form of the current western paintings then. The stylized forms of Chinese nature paintings were seen as attractive free form patterns which were definitely suitable for wallpaper.
